Nashville Scene - Best of Nashville 2015

I did the illustration for the Food and Drink category in Nashville Scene's "Best of Nashville" issue for 2015.  Fun job, and I am pleased with how it came out.  I love Nashville.

Inktober 2015

I'm doing Inktober every day for the month of October.  That is, I'm posting a new ink drawing of something or other every day on my instagram account.  Check it out!

Children's book coming soon

I recently teamed up with author Carrie Talbott to tell the story of Pete and His Gigantic Feet.  Details coming soon...

Cow Giraffe?

Ok so the weirdest thing happened.  I was in Goodwill in Franklin TN, looking through the t-shirt rack, and I randomly came across a shirt with my artwork, used without permission.
Apparently, at some point someone lifted my illustration from this blog and used it as a T-shirt design. (http://jameselston.blogspot.com/2007/05/cinco-de-mayo-giraffe.html)
And even weirder still, I ran into it in Goodwill in middle Tennessee all these years later.  I did that illustration for fun when I lived in Pennsylvania back in 2007.  Seriously, what are the odds?  There was no tag, so I have no idea who printed my design.

And another thing... COW GIRAFFE?  wha...?

Big Cat

New piece I've been poking around with here and there.  Finally done enough to post it.  I'm exploring some ideas about this odd trio of characters.

Illustrated Recipe: How to Make Taiwanese Ba-hoo

I'm half-Taiwanese.  Tonight I made some ba-hoo (sort of a chicken jerky) and posted a picture on facebook.

Everyone was asking for a recipe. I usually don't do recipes, so I made a quick comic
"How to make Taiwanese Ba-hoo". here it is:

quickie GIF animation

Ok so years ago I bought bauhaus Mirage, a very robust animation program for my mac. At one point, after an OS upgrade, it didn't run properly any more. Then the company was bought out and it became TVPaint. So there it sat on my shelf for years and years. I installed Windows 7 on my Mac recently (via bootcamp), and I gave it another shot and BOOM... it works! This is a quick animation I did to try to familiarize myself with the interface.
